Carpets & Rugs
meet the family
Introducing our 3 favourite members of the Moroccan Carpet family. We have many different colours, patterns and sizes, but each one of our carpets is one of three types of rug. The ‘type’ of rug is determined by how they’re made, what they’re made from and their origin. Let us explain…
BENI OURI

AKA – The fluffy one!
Named after the Beni Ourain tribe of the Moroccan Atlas Mountains, these fluffy lovelies are renowned for their distinct style and exceptional quality.
Woven from the wool of locally raised sheep, these carpets boast a plush texture that’s not just a treat for your feet but also a testament to the nomadic lifestyle of the Berber people. The use of 100% natural materials and dyes reflects a commitment to sustainability and an authentic connection to the Moroccan landscape.
What sets a BENI OURI carpet apart is its iconic design – characterised often by geometric patterns and their colour palette, often featuring ivory tones and bold lines. These designs are more than mere aesthetics; they hold cultural significance, with each symbol and motif telling a story unique to the Berber heritage.
KILIM

AKA – The Flat One
Dive into the timeless allure of Kilim carpets, where centuries of artistry and tradition are woven into vibrant patterns and colours. Hailing from various regions of Morocco, Kilim carpets are flat-woven textiles that boast a distinctive geometric aesthetic and hard wearing make-up. Crafted with meticulous detail using techniques passed down through generations, Kilims often feature bold designs and block colours.
What sets Kilim carpets apart is their versatility and functionality – they serve not only as floor coverings but also as captivating wall hangings or decorative accents, they’re light, easy to clean and resilient. Made from wool, cotton, or a blend of both, Kilims are celebrated for their durability and the cultural narratives embedded in their designs.
BOUCHOURAITE

AKA – The Cotton One
Unlike their woolen counterparts, these carpets, originating from Morocco, are crafted from recycled textiles, predominantly cotton, infusing a sustainable essence into their vibrant tapestry.
What we love about a Boucherouite is not just the choice of material but the whimsical and imaginative designs that adorn them. Bursting with a riot of colours, bold patterns, and free-spirited shapes, these carpets bring an animated charm to any space.
Handwoven by skilled Berber women, Boucherouite carpets go beyond floor coverings, as vibrant expressions of resourcefulness, creativity, and the cultural richness of its past. Each piece weaves a narrative of repurposed fabrics, transforming your home into a dynamic canvas of sustainable style and Moroccan heritage.
